Bio:
Languages:English, Nerd, and some Spanish
Background: I work for Microsoft in the Games Studio as a testing manager. How did I get there? Born and raised in California, moved up to Seattle, went to Washington State University, and got 2 majors in one B.A. How’d I become me? I grew up on a horse ranch in San Diego with only 3 boys to play with, surrounded by acres of wilderness begging to be explored, empty rooms in big houses perfect for making sprawling Lego towns, and great space for wrestling matches. Of course when we ran out of steam, there were video games and consoles everywhere just asking to be played. Then I discovered books, dirt-bikes, heavy and black metal, and makeup. Shake that all together violently and you have me, today. Thought getting paid to game was just going to be a summer job after college…
Hobbies Aside From Gaming:I’m a reader. I love historical and classical fiction. I party hard and work hard. I am solar-powered, so I try to escape Seattle as much as possible! I love the desert, and the real, non-touristy parts of Mexico. I’m a dirt biker, and I am an avid fan (as I said before) of metal music from the past ten years to present. I am great to take camping, because I’m not a complainer. I am also a huge fan of sarcasm. I am extremely fond of guns, and personally have an arsenal of various hand guns and shotguns. In conclusion, I am up for any activity that involves general badassery.
Game Work Experience: I currently work at Microsoft as a Software Test Engineer II. Basically I manage QA processes and drive the creative direction of the game. I am fresh off the Alan Wake release (finally!!!!), and am now working on the first Natal title. I have tested on every console released since the DS including PC. I worked at Nintendo, on the Wii release. I also released 4 games while there and worked on countless others. I hosted a podcast on iTunes called Geeky Goddess, I have worked at PAX for Ubisoft, I have worked at Oberon Media on casual PC games, and THQ on a cross-title game, which I also released. I have been in Nintendo Power, and will be mentioned for my contributions in the forthcoming Prima Guide for Alan Wake. I am extremely capable across all gaming genres, preferring Action/Adventure titles and First Person Shooters with a good story line. Gaming is a passion, and an extremely rewarding career for me as well.
Game Play Experience:I am skilled in most genres. Action, Adventure, First Person Shooters, Third Person Shooters, Fighting, Racing, Horror, Stealth, Music, Puzzle....I have tested or played them all- a lot.
My weaknesses are RPGs, PC gaming, and Sports, but if I know the gist, I can learn fast!
I have been a video game tester for 3 years, helped develop and test the Wii for production, and have tested on every other new console since the DS, including PC games on Vista when it was first released! I can play the games, sell them, critique them, and talk about them. I just can't make them...yet!
