Bio:

Languages: English and some Spanish

Education: I graduate from high school in May of 2010. From there I am attending the University of Central Oklahoma. I plan on working towards a major in graphic design coincided with advertising. I am still working on whether I want that to tie in with web design as well. After college I want to use my major to pursue a career within the gaming industry.

Gaming Background: I could give anyone reading this the cliché line of how I have played videogames since the days of the first Nintendo and Super Mario. However, I will give a different line. My first gaming system was the Pico. Try that on for size; that will probably give anyone a lingering question about what in the world a Pico is exactly. Google it, it is real- promise. Since then I have played and practically owned every system. My first insane, blood and gore game was the Twisted Metal series for PlayStation. I probably spent half my life on those games, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro, and many others growing up. I also have done PC gaming including Age of Empires, PlanetSide, Delta Force, Sims and other miscellaneous computer games. Throughout that time, I have played and owned almost every system. My extreme love for gaming did not elevate to a new level until the release of Xbox. I have been playing Xbox since its release in 2001, playing underneath my older brother’s gamertag for 2 years. I remember the time when it was uncommon to see girls playing Splinter Cell or MechAssault. Then I decided to get my own and have had my own gamertag since 2005. I started looking into competitive gaming, spent much of my time working towards it, but never could fit it in with school. I still consider myself a competitive gamer. However, instead of using the approach of following a dream to be a pro at one particular game. I decided to establish a goal of being an all around gamer, giving me the ability to review and play any type of game thrown my way. It has been much more rewarding, at least for me and my path in the gaming industry to have worked towards an all around gaming knowledge rather than single it down to one specific title. Other than that I attended MLG Dallas 09’ to meet other gamers and experience the competitive gaming side of the industry, and will be attending many more MLGs and conventions in the future.

Gaming Systems: Nintendo, Nintendo64, PlayStation, GameBoy, GameBoy Advance, Xbox, Xbox 360, PC, Nintendo Wii. I will definitely admit thought that I am pretty much married to my 360. However regardless of my undying love for one system, I can pretty much give anyone a knowledgeable bio of any of the next-gen games out.

Hobbies Aside From Gaming: Of course, hanging out with friends is probably the biggest given. I’m very involved with school. I love talking to and meeting new people. I’m very involved with my church youth group and am traveling on a mission trip to live in South America for a month in the summer of 2010. When it comes to school I am involved with the designing the sports section of my school’s yearbook. I am also an officer for our Young Republicans club. When I move to Edmond, Oklahoma for college I will be on the President’s Leadership Council of my university which is most definitely a blessing. Thus far, my largest hobby has been becoming the Editor for Charisma+2’s online gaming magazine. It has opened so many doors to meet new people and push myself to become even more involved with the industry at such a young age.

Favorite Games: Give me a game and I will literally master it within an hour. I love any type of game as long as it’s storyline is engaging. I have never strictly limited myself to a certain First-person, third-person, or MMORG, etc. I can say that I am a Halo series junkie. That has been my prime climb to gaming. However, working for GameStop has definitely pushed me out of that little box and introduced me to hundreds of new games that I love playing and reviewing. Normally, anytime I play a new game you will undoubtedly know because I will be posting FaceBook updates about me beating the game, or getting stuck briefly on a frustrating part in the game.

Relevant Work Experience: My job working as the Editor of Charisma+2’s online gaming magazine and working at GameStop have been the biggest influences in pushing me towards a career within the gaming industry. Interviewing many people within the industry has given me the taste of what I have to look forward to and I will work hard to achieve my goal. I was also able to do two photoshoots with Charisma+2 while attending MLG Dallas 09’. In the future, I am eager to learn as my role with Charisma+2 grows.

General: Social butterfly is probably the biggest word to describe myself. I love being “in the know” and meeting new people, especially when it comes to gaming. If you asked someone in my city that knew me to describe me in a few words I can guarantee the first word that would pop out of their mouth would be “gamer”. When it comes to gaming, it is my passion and as long as I am doing what I love, and what I know I am skilled at you will always see my smiling. That is a huge thing about my personality, I think. I want to be the person people love to be around so I do try to always be optimistic. I love seeing other people smiling and sharing what is going on in gaming, and how my faith in God is pushing me to new, extreme heights. I will admit, I love being the center of attention just because I am a very vocal person. I have been told my laugh is somewhat contagious, including my random comments and random spurts of weird and crazy ideas. Unique is probably the best word to describe me; what you see is what you get. I am a girl who can pick up a gaming controller in one hand and a shopping bag with the other; pushing other girls to become more involved in gaming is my largest underlining passion.
